Charged with improving the availability of transportation-related information needed by Federal, state,and local decision-makers in the US, the National Transportation Library's (NTL) mission is to increase timely access to the information that supports transportation policy, research, operations, and technology transfer activities. The NTL provides online access to documents and databases covering all aspects of transportation in the United States. Material is contributed by public and private organizations around the country and access to all documents is free. Search or browse this collection for full-text materials on transportation topics covering aviation, maritime, pedestrians, bicycles, freight, traffic control, highways, railways, public transportation, intelligent transportation systems, safety, laws & regulations, and more. The NTL WebPAC serves as an index of all of the documents contained in the National Transportation Library. The index is updated daily.
The DOT Library is one of the largest transportation libraries in the United States. The library holds more than 300,000 titles, including over 1200 periodical titles. The library collects materials related to all areas of transportation, both in print and electronic formats. Each library location has a particular subject concentration, with the Nassif technical collection being the primary source for materials concerning general transportation, surface, and water transportation. Special topics include: bridges, driver studies, engineering (emphasis on civil), highways and highway safety, history of transportation, land utilization, marine engineering, mass transit, merchant marine, navigation (except air), oceanography, pipelines, railroads, ships and shipbuilding, statistics, traffic engineering, traffic surveys and forecasts, urban transportation, and waterways. The FAA technical collection contains materials covering the areas of general aviation, aviation safety, airports, airport access, human factors in aviation, aviation medicine, and selected materials in supporting sciences such as navigation, aerospace, and engineering. The Library's three law collections contain general legal materials in addition to those specifically related to transportation law.

The DOT Library's Online Catalog contains over 80,000 bibliographic records, with more being added each day. You can search or browse the catalog by title, author, subject, or a number of other different access points.

The Northwestern University Transportation Library was founded in 1958 to support the curricula and research programs of the Transportation Center and the Center for Public Safety of Northwestern University, including the School of Police Staff and Command. Containing over 4,00,000 items, the Transportation Library of Northwestern University is one of the largest transportation information centers in the world, encompassing information on all transportation modalities, including: air, rail, highway, pipeline, water, urban transport and logistics. It includes a significant collection on law enforcement, police management and traffic enforcement. Its collection of environmental impact statements is one of the most complete in the world. The Transportation Library's staff produce two major bibliographic resources, Current Literature in Traffic and Transportation, published quarterly, and TransWeb, a web-based periodical index of transportation and law enforcement articles and conference proceedings. Researchers from around the world, in the fields of transportation and law enforcement, are encouraged to use the Transportation Library in accordance with our policies and procedures.
Mn/DOT Library's collection covers all aspects of transportation. It is strongest in highway engineering and design and has a developing collection on intelligent transportation infrastructure. The Transportation Library is a collaborative effort of the Hawaii Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), the Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at the University of Hawaii (UH-CE) and the Hawaii Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). The Transportation Library system commenced its operation in 1995 for use by transportation institutions, agencies and professionals within the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Pacific Islands.
Established in 1948, the Harmer E. Davis Transportation Library houses one of the pre-eminent transportation collections in the U.S., and is the country's oldest university transportation library. The Library serves the research needs of the Institute of Transportation Studies and the University of California statewide. With joint sponsorship by the California Dept. of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, the Library provides free, specialized services to California public agencies through the Technology Transfer Program. The Library holds over 165,000 volumes. Holdings also include about 4000 serial titles, over 1000 of which are currently received. Over 80% of all of our monograph cataloging is original. That, combined with our original cataloging of journal articles, results in an average monthly total of over 550 originally cataloged records. Harmer E. The State Transportation Library has strong collection of materials on transportation, environment, engineering, planning, design, and construction. It acts as a depository for publications for the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration. The Library houses documents of national and international organizations including AASHTO, TRB, and OECD. The Library provides access to the IAC InfoTrac SearchBank databases and access to over 450 databases.
