|| LACTOSE OPERON ||

This simulation is based on a simplified version of a famous model, originally proposed by Francis Jacob and Jacques Monod ( for which they got the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology, jointly with Andre Loweff in 1965 ). It explains the manner in which gene action is controlled and proteins are synthesised in thecell.
It ignores a number of 'facts' that one might feel should not have been left out: it omits a good deal of well-known features of the model that have been experimentally established. But there is no simulation that depicts the reality as it is. A simulation is often restricted to a manageable degree of complexity, depending on many considerations.The simplicity of the model presented through this simulation is due basically to the fact that it is meant for school children.
