The focus groups will be chaired by renowned scholars and practitioners, some of whom may also be members of the Steering Committee. Other members of the Focus Group will be drawn from the NCERT faculty, school teachers, and representatives of non-Government organizations. The Focus Groups will be expected to produce a research-based position paper, providing a comprehensive review of existing knowledge, representing an awareness of the field reality, especially in rural schools. The main objective of these position papers will be to provide an accessible resource to curriculum designers and writers of textbooks and other material, including teacher handbooks. Different stages of education will be discussed separately to spell out the issues pertaining to an area or problem. The monographs prepared by the National Core Groups will form a part of the National Curriculum Framework package.
